Hello hello hello

This newsletter has been patchy in the past. I usually intend to send something out after a release and sometimes that happens and  sometimes it doesn't. This year I'm commiting to sending out a monthly newsletter on the 12th of every month. Even if there's no new releases I'll talk about some updates on works in progress and general musings.

This year if it kills me

I have a good feeling about this year (for me personally, like not in any wider sense). Last year held a lot of personal difficulties but things feel like they're in a good place and I'm excited to see what that means for my work.

The Man We Knew

Speaking of the work I released The Man We Knew at the start of the month; a noirish thriller for sad space cowboys. It's a third party adventure for Orbital Blues about an old friend, a sudden death and a dangerous racket. It's a pastiche of The Third Man and laid out in a noir influenced style. Available on Itch here: https://ratwavegamehouse.itch.io/the-man-we-knew

Writing this was really a blast and it's a really neat little adventure. Who knew adventure writing was so much fun? (I'm being informed the answer was lots of people). So that's something I think I'll do more of this year.

Coming January 31st: The Infinite Dancefloor

A game about those rough nights that could have been good, if you just stopped sooner. Set to music. Find your friends and try to escape the shifting pulsing labryinth.

It's a hack of Time to Drop by Marn S. and influenced by the Ladyhawke album Time Flies. I posted a little preview over on Tumblr: https://at.tumblr.com/ratwavegamehouse/the-infinite-dancefloor-out-31st-january/6unwq919ebd0

Oh hey that reminds me I'm using tumblr again. I also have a cohost but haven't used it as much. It's @RatWaveGameHouse

What am I working on right this second?

I feel abuzz with lots of exciting new ideas. Which I am worried I may not be able to pace well but I'm keeping an eye on it, y'know. So I had fun doing an adventure so I'm going to work on some for my own game. I'm revisiting Wild Duelist this year. In anticipation of that I did some minor revisions to the game which have already been uploaded. A crediting update as well as adding some extra ideas for the end of battle scenes and an alternative way of creating characters.

I've got two adventures for the game in the oven right now; a quick start adventure about two sworn enemies and a longer campaign style adventure.

On the horrizon I have three games I need to playtest before I can continue with them. A satanic sports ttrpg called Demon Cage Fireball. Jukebox Tarot, a game about telling stories inspired by musical theater using the music you love. And two games in the world of Old Gods and Young Guns; Godslingers, a GMed-ish
game focusing on grappling with difficult to control divine power, and Thirty Foes, a mechanically funky storytelling game inspired by Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven.

I hate organising playtesting but honestly if I manage it those games would all be very close to completion.

See you next month

I promise! In the meantime lemme know if you've enjoyed any of my work recently or anything you'd like to see in this here newsletter.
