Hello and welcome back to the Rat Wave Newsletter. I'm gearing up for a pretty hectic two months so this will be a punchier issue than usual.
Out Now: PSYCHODUNGEON
PSYCHODUNGEON is out now digitally, physical copies have started going out and it'll be available on the Rat Wave Webstore on Monday.
I'm really happy with how the physical print looks. If your copy has already arrived and you've enjoyed what you've read feel free to tell me about it. I'm hoping to run a session at my local game night if I can get my energy levels back to normal.
Unleashing October 29th: Transgender Deathmatch Legend II
Transgender Deathmatch Legend II launches on BackerKit at the end of the month. I gave the teaser page a little facelift (and then had to do a second face list as it turns out the cover is considered NSFW).
Over on the Rat Wave Blog I've written some preview posts. There's the full rules of a fight and an explanation of the new fighting styles, a preview of Character Creation (and how it's been deepened from the original game) and I've also shared the opening essay from the book: "Looking Up at the Lights". It's about my personal history with wrestling, good and bad, what appeals to me about it, and how that informed both the original game and this sequel. It's a good bit of writing that I'm personally proud of.
Pre-saves on the project so far seem slower than both Terminal and PSYCHODUNGEON, which is concerning. I hadn't anticipated how the game's content could lead to it getting throttled by social media algorithms. Still, the book means a lot to me and all I can do is keep plugging away and hope for the best. If you're considering backing and haven't pre-saves the project please do, it could make all of the difference on the world.
Next Month
That's the big pieces of news for this month. I've been having a difficult personal time lately; my health has been not great and stress from a unfair benefits situation and worries about the project is probably making it worse. What's the Hangman Page line? "I'm angry, I'm frustrated. I can't sleep at night. I'm anxious, I'm depressed. The medicine isn't working but I am still here." (It ends with because I am a man but that part doesn't apply to my situation.)
Next month I'll be back with updates on how the BackerKit for TDL2 is going. Hopefully we've smashed the original goal and I get to tell you about all the exciting stretch goal writers I'm hoping to bring in for a sick supplement. But if not, I'll still be here either way.
Until next time
From one Rat to another, looks great!
